Travel Information

Lifeworks students come from all over the world, so coordinated travel is of vital importance!

For this reason, we strongly suggest that students book through our travel coordinator, Leah Hernandez, of Reservation Services International so that all members of the team can fly on the same prearranged itinerary. Leah obtains great fares, arranges for group seating, and provides close monitoring and assistance on travel days in case of flight difficulties. As airlines often change their schedules, Lifeworks cannot be responsible for the coordination of flights not booked through Reservation Services International.

When booking travel, students should be aware that the program start date (as shown on the Dates and Fees page) is the date upon which the Lifeworks group flight(s) departs the hub airport in the U.S. Due to time zone differences in certain program locations (e.g. China, Thailand, and India), the group flight(s) may actually land in the host country the day after. The program end date is the date upon which the Lifeworks group flight(s) departs the host country. Students that are not booking on our scheduled group flight(s) must contact our office prior to booking to ensure they are arriving and departing the host country at appropriate times.

For all programs, Lifeworks posts a representative in the hub airport on fly days. In some cases, this representative is one of the group leaders and flies with the students to the program destination.

The cost of air travel varies between programs. Please contact Leah for sample itineraries and an estimation of the international flight cost. If you are planning to use frequent flier miles, please contact our office before booking to ensure appropriate arrival and departure times. Full details on passport and visa requirements are provided upon enrollment.

Internal Flights

Students attending our Ecuador/Galapagos program should be aware that the in-country flights (our transportation to get to the Galapagos and to the Amazon) are not available through Leah. These flights are best booked with in-country agencies, so Lifeworks organizes and pre-pays for these flights on our parent's behalf. Once all arrangements have been made, parents are invoiced to reimburse these fees. Typically these additional flight costs are $540 for Ecuador/Galapagos students.
